Old-World Holiday Celebrations & Rituals for The Whole Community!
Join us as we re-invent the old celebration ways of our intelligent earth-based ancestors! These events will be collaborations between young and old – all those who want to help co-create a fun, raucous, joyful experience. We imagine sharing food and drink, ritual, sacred theatre, crafts, and more. Weaving the old with the new to nourish and weave our community in a wonderful way.
The Autumnal Equinox Celebration, Saturday September 22:
5 – 7:30 pm crafts, pot luck buffet feasting and visiting (all ages welcome!)
7:30 – 9 pm formal ritual in the Kiva honoring the Autumnal Elements and Divine Participants(adults and ritual-savvy children [who can listen, journey and sit quietly] welcome to join)
The Autumnal Equinox, also known as Mabon, is a cross-quarter holiday: one of two powerful moments in the year when light and dark stand in balance. This is a time of great celebration, for the Fall's most abundant harvest is here. Yet it's also a time of somber awareness and preparation – for the quiet Earth time of Winter is fast approaching. Did we grow and store enough sustenance to make it through the long, cold months ahead? And even if we are prepared, we must have faith in a benevolent universe – that the sun will, once again, return to warm the Earth. This is a time to honor our ancestors as well as the necessary and omnipresent force of nature that is Death. Come celebrate with your community – weaving our wellness in an old-world way. Give thanks for the harvest, for the growth, for the benevolence of this great Earth and our own intimate lives.
Join us Saturday September 22nd for gourd decorating, feasting, an Autumnal Community Ritual, perhaps even some dancing and singing...bring your ideas, your revelry and your gratitude and help us celebrate the way our wise ancestors did, once upon a time (and as many, who are tied to the turning of the seasons and the tilting of the great Earth, still do).
All Celebrations cost $15* for each person 7 years old and up (*For craft supplies etc. But please don’t let the money prohibit you from attending. Pay what you can to help contribute to the cost of the event, whatever that is for you). Use the form on the right to make a donation, or bring your cash/check with you to the celebration.
Bring a dish/drink to share as well as any songs and dances, and other celebrational ideas and supplies to assist our Autumnal honoring and revelry.
These events begin at 5 pm with a formal ritual from 7:30 – 9, and are located at 6482 Jib Court, Boulder 80301.
Please park on Mast and Kalua – the streets just prior to Jib. Jib is a small cul-de-sac and there is little to no room for parking.
